six kinds of preternatural knowledge
(1) The knowledge and ability to perform wonders appropriate to the needs of beings, such as the miraculous multiplication of objects; (2) the clairvoyance of the divine eye (the knowledge of births and deaths of all beings); (3) the clairaudience of the divine ear (the ability to hear all sounds throughout the three-thousand-fold universe); (4) the knowledge of one’s own and others’ past lives; (5) the knowledge of the minds of others; (6) the knowledge of the exhaustion of stains, i.e., that one’s own deeds and emotions have been brought to exhaustion.
